On January 14, 2006, a group of public & school librarians met to discuss our list of Mock Newbery nominees. After a spirited discussion, we selected a winner and three honor books.
Winner: Each Little Bird That Sings by Debbie Wiles
Three Honor books were selected:
Chicken Boy by Frances O’Roark Dowell
Defiance by Valerie Hobbs
Gentle’s Holler by Kerry Madden
