Has anyone else read this book? It's a very nostalgic story, set in the 1950's, about 11 year-old Penny and her family. I am about halfway through the book. I'm starting to enjoy some of the characters, but I'm not finding it a compelling read.

I truly enjoyed this book. Yes, it is slow-paced and “nostalgic,” but it offers an incredibly clear view of the 1950’s world as seen through the eyes of a preteen girl. I would love to sit down to eat and talk with her loving Italian-American extended family, Uncle Dominic in particular. I was also fascinated by the author’s note and family pictures at the end of the book.

This is a great book with a great sense of the time and the people in Penny's family. I also found the author's family info interesting.
