I just finished this amazing book. I loved the story and, reading the after-notes, was astounded at the structure of the book. I think it probably fits into Printz consideration more than Newbery. Has anyone else read this? What are your thoughts?

www.bn.com says this book will be published in October. I like the idea that the braided hair keeps them binded together. I'll read it as soon as I see it.

Today our Library held its annual Mock Printz election. I'm pleased to report that this book was one of the honor books selected by the group in attendance.

I read the book just yesterday and thought it was fantastic. It didn't strike me as Newbery though. I too am pleased that the Mock Printz participants selected it as one of their honor books.

The Braid is a terrific book for teens and adults. I hope it receives serious consideration from the Printz committee!
