YELLOW STAR is incredible. A must read and a contender.

I must admit that I avoided reading this book. Children's books about the holocaust can be (justifiably) so very grim. Yellow Star is worth picking up and reading. Written in first person and based on the remembrances of the author's aunt, this is a profoundly moving, well-written, and ultimately hopeful story. It deserves to be placed on this year's Mock Newbery reading list.

I too avoided reading this book. Then, after I started, I couldn't put it down. I agree, it is a must read and a contender.
