Wow! Jenny Han has really captured the essence of beginning 7th grade. Wow! This is a must-read for our discussion.

Yes, Jenny certainly did capture exactly what 7th grade is like. Even after 40 years I still remember all the things in junior just the way they are described in Shug. It felt like I was back there again going through it myself. So, I would have to say the writing is very good. The characters are developed well. This is not my ususual kind of read but it held my interest to my own surprise and I loved the end. It seems to me though there could be Shug 2 the way it ended. I still have decided though if I would say it is a possible Newbery for me or not though.
