Thirteen participants discussed the books Saturday afternoon (January 8) and selected (through several series of balloting) Nancy Farmer's _The Sea of Trolls_ as our 2005 Mock Newbery Award winner.
Norse mythology, strong characterization, adventure, coming-of-age themes, and humor are just a few of the elements that were mentioned during our discussion.
