A librarian suggested this book and said “I don’t know if this book is too old for Newbery consideration, but it would really make for good discussion!!”
I certainly agree! (And I would LOVE to have been able to take the High School Really Modern Literature class which is run by a librarian who prefers "books by authors who are still alive.")

I usually like Crutcher but thought this book was too much about his own agenda--C'mon, he appears at the end of the book as an author/character to defend his OWN book against censorship and then there is a convenient afterword to teenage readers to start anti-censorship groups in their own schools (especially if those groups attack Crutcher as well?) There was too much about him and not enough plot.
