Avi. The Book Without Words

I am interested in hearing what others think of this book. I liked it but thought there were some plot holes.

I picked this book up right away when it came into my library because I am a big fan of Avi. I have to be honest and say I was really disappointed with this book though. There just wasn't enough dept to the characters. After I finished it I felt like I didn't really get to know who the characters were just what happened to them. I didn't like the way it ended either and an ending to a fiction story is very important to me. If it doesn't end well the story isn't good for me.

Excellent point about the lack of depth in the characters. I had a difficult time buying that none of them were scared witless about Thornston (sp?) journeys to and from the basement.
