I have yet to read this book, but I think we should consider it for the Mock Newbery since it won the National Book Award.

I have read this book and found it to be entertaining, touching and action-packed. The adults are flat and peripheral, but it works in a summer tale of four sisters, two rabbites and a very interesting boy. However, there is a very important Hound and I'm surprised he didn't make it into the subtitle.

I finally read this this summer. I liked it a lot but found it not very believable. I wasn't sure when the time period would be...maybe back in the 50s when life was more innocent. Surely not in today's world. It all seemed rather predictable, too. It seemed like something I would have read, like I said, back in the early 50s. (I know most of you weren't even thought of at that time). Phyllis
