:)I just loved Harry Sue by Sue Stauffacher. Her style of writing made the characters very real to me and very interesting. For me to love a book it has to make me laugh and cry and this one did this for me. I don't want to give to many details for those who have not read it yet though. Harry Sue's mother and father are both in jail and Harry Sue is living with her horrible grandmother, sorry but there is no other word for her grandmother. Harry Sue pretends to be hard hearted but it just isn't in her. Harry Sue is obviously in a lot of pain both physically and mentally but she is fast acting and right there when it comes to help those who can't help themselves.

Harry Sue is a wonderful character with fantastic voice. I like how Stauffacher used Baum's Wizard of Oz to tie the story together. I have mixed feelings about the liberty the author took with Baum's first name although I don't have doubts that would be what Harry Sue's mother told her. I also had some questions about the tree house and the willingness of home health staff to do the required entry to said tree house.
