I think Each Little Bird That Sings is an excellent book. I have to admit I wasn't sure I would like the book because the family runs the town funeral home and lives above the funeral home. But the story was not about the creepy things that people usually think about and talk about when it comes to funeral homes. I loved having the extended family living in the home and I loved how close the children were to there Great-Uncle Edisto and Great-great-aunt Florentine. Death is something that I have to say I hate to read about but it wasn't so awful the way it was handled in the story.
I also have to say this is one of my top contenders on my winners list because after I read it I was still thinking about the story and the characters. There were characters to love and hate in the story and there was a lot of sad moments but yet it was good. I guess I would have to say the characters just touched my heart even Peach.

I know this was last years Mock Newbury book but I read it this summer. I absolutely loved this book. My daughter told me about it; she said I had to read it. I loved the way the relationship changed between the main character and the little boy, how their lives became so entwined. I loved the dog and cried when I had to give up hope that he wasn't going to be found. I thought the relationship between the main character and her "best friend" was so true to life. I loved all the characters in the book and didn't want the book to end. If it didn't win the Newbury (or Mock Newbury), it should have in my estimation. Phyllis
